Mission Recycling project was first launched as a part of the highly successful NDTV Coca Cola ‘Support My School’ campaign, spread across fifty two schools in Mewat (Haryana), Indore and Bhind (Madhya Pradesh), benefitting school children.
Re-launched in November 2018, in its second phase, SRF Foundation’s Mission Recycling project, structured in collaboration with the American India Foundation (AIF), creates awareness amongst students and teachers of identified Government Schools and the communities about the recycling and reuse of Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET). Besides students and teachers, this program has had a positive effect on the lives of more than 11,000 community members, who are actively involved in promoting the initiative.
Several best-out-of-waste projects have been implemented. These include seven vertical gardens in Mewat and two vertical gardens each in Gwalior, Bhind and Dhar district, made by the students, teachers and field staff, using waste PET bottles.
